Questions to Ask Suppliers and Vendors

  1. MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity). Some vendors will require you to purchase hundreds or thousands. Ask right away to make sure it’s in line with how much you can afford.
  2. Time-frame. Some vendors may be able to get you product right away; others might take months. Make sure you ask to get an idea of when you will get your supply.
  3. Shipping options. Some manufacturers require you to find shipping on your own, like a third-party shipper. See what options they provide, so you’re aware of your expenses and what you need to complete on your end.
  4. Reviews. Read reviews and make sure there aren’t any negative ones. You don’t ever want to get scammed. You should only pay a certain amount like (10-30%) to start and the rest after you receive the product or the product ships. Understand these terms by asking first.
  5. Prototype or sample. Order a prototype or sample first to make sure the product is up to your standards. Don’t be surprised that the sample will cost 3 to 4x as much as when you purchase the item in bulk.
