What is a Seller’s Permit?

A seller’s permit is a permit required by many states in order to sell or lease merchandise, vehicles, or other tangible items. In some states, you need a seller’s permit if you are selling services. The seller’s permit means that you agree to pay sales tax on any taxable sales; usually, you’ll be issued a state tax ID number in order to pay those taxes.
