When you launch your online store with Shopify, one of the first things you’ll do is select your Shopify plan. Many people start out with a Basic Shopify plan. As your business starts to do more volume, however, the Shopify Plus plan seems a lot more attractive. Read on as we explore what Shopify Plus is and spell out the benefits.

What Is Shopify Plus?

Put simply, Shopify Plus is Shopify’s plan for enterprise-size businesses who sell in high volumes. Over 10,000 brands use Shopify Plus, including recognizable names such as Staples, Steve Madden, Heinz, and Allbirds. It starts at $2,000 per month, which is admittedly higher than the $29 to $299 price range of Shopify’s other plans. For large ecommerce brands, however, the benefits are more than worth it.

5 Benefits of Shopify Plus

There are a number of benefits to using Shopify Plus. Let’s take a look at some of the ones that stand out.

1. Full customization

This is a big one. Thanks to Shopify’s wealth of themes and apps, you get to enjoy a good amount of flexibility when it comes to designing your online store. However, for full customization — a.k.a. full CSS and JavaScript control, plus access to the Script Editor — you can truly do whatever you want with your online store.

2. Competitive pricing

Because you are selling at higher volumes, Shopify Plus offers significantly better discounts and shipping rates than the lower-tier plans. Also, instead of paying 2.9% plus 30 cents for every translation, like you would with the Basic to Advanced Plans, you get to negotiate a quote with Shopify. If you use a third-party processor, the transaction fees are also lower. And if you have brick-and-mortars, you get access to Shopify POS Pro for free (a $89 savings).

3. Faster everything

Shopify hooks you up with top-of-the-line hosting and infrastructure. As a result, everything moves faster on your website. Pages load faster, including the most important page of all: the checkout page. According to Shopify, checkout is 60% faster with Shopify Plus. Shopify keeps things fast on the set-up side, too. Typically, when you move to an enterprise hosting platform, it can take months or more to implement. With Shopify Plus, it only takes weeks.

4. Next-level marketing

When you get Shopify Plus, Shopify unlocks a whole new tier of capabilities that help you sell more and manage your store smarter. For example, there’s Shopify Flow, a tool that helps you put customer loyalty and segmentation on auto-pilot. With Launchpad, you can automate flash sales and inventory restocks — across Shopify and everywhere else you sell. You can also supercharge your product pages with built-in functionality for video, augmented reality (AR), and 3D images.

5. Truly global support

Enterprise brands sell everywhere. That’s why Shopify Plus offers the most expansive support for global selling of all of Shopify’s plans. You can sell in up to 20 languages (compared with the mere 5, 2, or 0 of the lower-priced plans) and over 130 currencies. You can set fixed exchange rates and country-specific domains. You also have a dedicated account manager, in case you run into any issues.

Should you make the move to Shopify Plus?

Shopify is a great option for ecommerce brands of any size. Once you begin to graduate from a small or medium brand to a global enterprise, however, you need more power behind your store. That’s when Shopify Plus is the best option.
